Brent Cheek is General Superintendent at Alberta Midland Railway Terminal. A 36 year veteran of the North American railroad industry. Brent is also active performing project management, track inspections, and maintenance of way operations consulting work for CNPRS clients across Canada. Prior to joining CNPRS in 2015, Mr. Cheek was Superintendent – Western Canada for PNR Rail Works, a respected track construction and contracting firm.
Prior to joining PNR Rail Works in 2011, Brent spent 15 years with RaiLink/RailAmerica in a variety of management positions related to track maintenance, track standards, and engineering operations, including Director Engineering and Operations Development for RaiLink, and Director Standards for RailAmerica. In this role, Brent worked on acquisition projects, capital improvements, construction, and maintenance standards for railroad operations across Canada and the United States. He has also served as Vice Committee chair for the American Railway Engineering Management Association’s Committee on Track Standards.
Brent has remained active throughout his career in training development and delivery, and is a current training associate with The Canadian Heartland Training Railway Services.
Brent began his career as a track maintainer for Canadian National, progressively rising through the ranks of track foreman, and Assistant Roadmaster prior to joining RaiLink in 1996. At CN, he also served as Mountain Region Work Force coordinator in the Edmonton dispatching office. He and his wife Shanna reside in Strathcona County and have three adult children. Brent enjoys music, woodworking, football, and volunteers with the Canadian Northern Society as Director Safety.
