Ian Hoggins is Operations Supervisor for Alberta Midland Railway Terminal. He is a member of the Canadian Northern Plains Rail Services management team, and is responsible for the safe rail car switching and storage, and associated transloading operations at the Lamont site. He is also responsible for locomotive maintenance and operations on site.
In addition to his AMRT duties, Ian remains involved with the management team of the Boundary Trail Railway as an active participant and consultant.
Ian has been railroading for over 33 years – starting in the track maintenance department at Canadian Pacific out of Minnedosa, Manitoba – and later working in the transportation department conducting Agency work in the Minnedosa station. In 1990 Ian moved to Alberta and worked as a leading track maintainer until joining the Central Western Railway as track maintenance foreman in 1992. Since this time, Ian has a wide variety of experience in the short line and regional rail industry as a qualified conductor, locomotive engineer, track inspector, locomotive inspector and operations manager. He was involved in start-ups of the Ottawa Valley Railway, the Southern Manitoba Railway, and the Boundary Trail Railway, among other industrial and shortline operations.
Ian enjoys the great outdoors having a cottage at Clear Lake, and currently resides in Sherwood Park with his wife Heather. They have two adult children. He is also a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
