COMPANY HISTORY

2011

Rail Logistics in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland

Alberta’s Industrial Heartland is Canada’s largest hydro-carbon processing centre, and rail transportation is critical to the region.
2014

Corporate Development, Permitting, and Construction

Once the strategic lands that AMRT now owns in Lamont County were acquired, AMRT gathered a group of shareholders and equity partners to develop Phase 1 of a rail logistics centre, partnering with CN and two key anchor clients. After a successful community consultation and receipt of development permits from Lamont County, construction began on the rail yard in July of 2016.
2017

The Dream Becomes Reality

Phase 1 of AMRT – a reserved rail car storage facility – became operational in 2017. A small expansion was completed in 2019. Mobile rail car servicing and repair work can be conducted on site, and specialty switching services are offered.
2020

Phase 2 and the Future

With Phase 2 of AMRT completed in 2020, AMRT has access to both major Canadian rail carriers and is privileged to serve a growing number of Alberta’s Industrial Heartland based LPG, refining, chemical, agricultural, and industrial shippers. AMRT can offer further property for industrial development. We would be pleased to be of service to you. Call us today to discuss your interests.

AMRT is proudly operated by Canadian Northern Plains Rail Services (“CNPRS”). CNPRS along with its sister company Canadian Heartland Training Railway Services are part of the AMRT corporate family. CNPRS enjoys a strategic alliance with the Northern Plains Rail Companies, which operate a successful 350-route-mile regional railway in Minnesota and North Dakota, as well as provide a suite of rail services to clients across the Midwest and in western Canada.
